# Team member roles

> A team member can be an Agent, an Admin, an Assistant, or any combination. Agents sell, admins run the agency, and assistants enter data on behalf of an admin.

## Roles

Set roles under **Roles** on a team member's **Profile** tab.

| Role | Portal | What they can do |
|---|---|---|
| **Agent** | Agent | Work with their own customers, reservations and sales. |
| **Admin** | Admin | Manage team members, offerings, bookings, remittances, payments and agency sales. |
| **Assistant** | Agent | Enter data on behalf of an admin who selected them as an assistant. |

A team member needs at least one role. You cannot change your own roles.

## Commission settings on the same profile

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Commission %** | Percentage of total commission (0-100). New team members start at 70. |
| **Upline** | Team member who receives override commission. |
| **Override %** | Percentage of commission paid to upline (0-100). |
| **Preferred Payment Currencies** | USD, EUR or MXN. |

Rate changes apply to all unpaid reservations. Reservations with any payout keep the original rate.

## Assistants

Only an admin can have assistants, and only the admin can choose them.

1. Give the assistant the **Assistant** role on their profile.
2. Open your own profile under **Team Members**.
3. Under **Assistants**, tick the team members who can enter data on your behalf.
4. Select **Save**.

The assistant then sees an **Acting as** bar at the top of the Agent portal.

Removing the **Assistant** role from the assistant, or the **Admin** role from you, ends the arrangement.

## If something goes wrong

### "Please select at least one role for this team member"

No role is ticked under **Roles**. Tick **Agent**, **Admin** or **Assistant**, then save again.

### "You cannot change your own roles"

Roles are read-only on your own profile. Ask another admin to change them.
